സാമൂഹിക ദ്രോഹവും മതനേതാക്കളുടെ മൗനവും

മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയിലെ പെരിന്തല്‍മണ്ണക്കടുത്ത് പട്ടിക്കാട്ട് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം വിപുലമായ ഒരു ജനകീയ സമരം നടന്നു. കരുവമ്പാറ തെക്കന്‍ മലയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന ക്രഷര്‍യൂനിറ്റും ക്വാറിയും നിര്‍ത്തിവെക്കണമെന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ടാണ് പ്രതിഷേധ മാര്‍ച്ചും സമരവും സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്. ദിനംപ്രതി ലക്ഷം ലിറ്റര്‍ വെള്ളമൂറ്റാനും നാലര ലക്ഷം ടണ്‍ വിവിധയിനം കല്ലുകള്‍ പൊട്ടിക്കാനും അനുമതി വാങ്ങി, 95 ഏക്കര്‍ സ്ഥലം കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചാണ് ക്രഷര്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്. നൂറോളം കുടുംബങ്ങളെ നേരിട്ടും ഇരുനൂറോളം കുടുംബങ്ങളെ പരോക്ഷമായും ബാധിക്കുന്നതാണ് ക്രഷറിന്‍െറ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം. പരിസരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ മുഖ്യ ജലസ്രോതസ്സ് കരുവമ്പാറ തെക്കന്‍ മലയാണ്. അത് തകര്‍ക്കപ്പെട്ടാല്‍ പരിസരവാസികള്‍ കടുത്ത വെള്ളക്ഷാമമനുഭവിക്കും. പാതിരാത്രിപോലും പേടിപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഭീകര ശബ്ദമാണ് ക്രഷര്‍ പൂര്‍ണാര്‍ഥത്തില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുമ്പോഴുണ്ടാവുക. ഇതുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന പ്രയാസം പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ. ഗര്‍ഭിണികളുടെയും കുട്ടികളുടെയും ശാരീരികവും മാനസികവുമായ ആരോഗ്യത്തിന് വരുത്തുന്ന വിപത്ത് ഊഹിക്കാവുന്നതേയുള്ളൂ. വായുവിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും മാരകമായ മാലിന്യം കലരാനും ഇതിടവരുത്തുന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ നൂറുകണക്കിന് ആളുകളുടെ നിത്യജീവിതത്തെ ദുരിതപൂര്‍ണവും അപകടകരവുമാക്കുന്നതിനാലാണ് ഒരു പ്രദേശത്തെ ജനം ഒന്നാകെ ജാതി, മത, രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഭേദമില്ലാതെ പ്രതിഷേധവുമായി രംഗത്തെത്തിയത്.

നാം ഈ ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് വന്നപ്പോള്‍ ശ്വസിക്കാനാവശ്യമായ വായുവോ കുടിക്കാനുള്ള വെള്ളമോ നില്‍ക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ട ഇടമോ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടില്ല. പാറയും പറമ്പും പാടവും പര്‍വതവും തോടും കുളവും കായലും പുഴയുമൊന്നുമായല്ല നാം പിറന്നുവീണത്. പോകുമ്പോള്‍ ഇതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോവുകയുമില്ല. അതിനാല്‍, ഇതൊന്നും നമ്മുടേതല്ല. ദാതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന്‍േറതാണ്. നമുക്കുള്ളത് ഉപയോഗാനുമതിയാണ്. അതും നിരുപാധികമല്ല. ഇവിടത്തെ പര്‍വതങ്ങളുടെയും പാടങ്ങളുടെയും തോടുകളുടെയും കുളങ്ങളുടെയും മേല്‍ നമുക്കുള്ളത്ര ഉപയോഗാനുമതി മുഴുവന്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമുണ്ട്. എല്ലാ ജീവജാലങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമുണ്ട്.

ഭൂമിയില്‍ മനുഷ്യന് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ആവശ്യമുള്ള പ്രധാന ഭൗതിക പദാര്‍ഥം വായുവാണ്; അത് കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ വെള്ളവും. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ശുദ്ധവായുവും നിര്‍മലമായ വെള്ളവും ഏതൊരാളുടെയും പ്രാഥമികാവശ്യമാണ്. അതാര്‍ക്കും നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെടാവതല്ല. അതിനാല്‍, വായുവിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും വിഷവും മാലിന്യവും കലര്‍ത്തുന്നത്, ഭക്ഷ്യ വസ്തുക്കളില്‍ വിഷം കലര്‍ത്തി മനുഷ്യരെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാള്‍ ക്രൂരവും കുറ്റകരവുമാണ്. കാന്‍സര്‍പോലുള്ള ഏറെ പ്രയാസകരമായ രോഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടവരുത്തുന്ന മാരക വസ്തുക്കള്‍ വായുവിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും കലര്‍ത്തി ഇഞ്ചിഞ്ചായി കൊല്ലുന്നതാണ് വിഷംകൊടുത്ത് മിനിറ്റുകള്‍ കൊണ്ട് മരണം വരുത്തുന്നതിനേക്കാള്‍ അസഹനീയം. വീട് നിര്‍മിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ പോലും അയല്‍വാസിയുടെ ശുദ്ധവായുവിന് തടസ്സമുണ്ടാവരുതെന്നും വീട്ടിലെ മലിനജലം പരിസരവാസികള്‍ക്ക് പ്രയാസം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുംവിധം പുറത്തേക്കൊഴുക്കരുതെന്നും കെട്ടിനില്‍ക്കുന്ന വെള്ളത്തില്‍ മൂത്രമൊഴിച്ച് മലിനമാക്കരുതെന്നും ഇസ്ലാം കണിശമായി കല്‍പിക്കാനുള്ള കാരണവും അതുതന്നെ. ശുദ്ധവായുവും വെള്ളവും കവര്‍ന്നെടുക്കുന്നത് മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ സമ്പത്ത് കട്ടെടുക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാള്‍ കടുത്ത അപരാധമാണ്. നിര്‍ബന്ധിതാവസ്ഥയില്‍ അനിവാര്യമായി സംഭവിച്ചുപോകുന്നവക്ക് മാത്രമേ ഇതില്‍ ഇളവ് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാവൂ.

ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് കൊല്ലങ്ങളിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോയ എണ്ണിയാലൊടുങ്ങാത്ത ജനകോടികള്‍ ഭദ്രമായി കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിച്ച എത്രയെത്ര പര്‍വതങ്ങളും പാറകളുമാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ കാല്‍നൂറ്റാണ്ടിനകം ഈ ആസുര കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ ആര്‍ത്തി മൂത്ത മനുഷ്യര്‍ തകര്‍ത്ത് തരിപ്പണമാക്കിയത്. എത്രയെത്ര തോടുംപാടവും കുളവും കായലുമാണ് മണ്ണിട്ട് നികത്തി നശിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഈ നില തുടര്‍ന്നാല്‍ ഏതാനും പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകള്‍ കഴിയുമ്പോഴേക്കും കേരളം തോടുംപാടവും നീര്‍ത്തടങ്ങളും, പര്‍വതവും പാറയുമില്ലാത്ത കോണ്‍ക്രീറ്റ് കാടായി മാറുകയില്ലേ? നമ്മെപ്പോലെത്തന്നെ വരുംതലമുറകള്‍ക്കും ഉപയോഗാനുമതിയുള്ള ഇവയൊക്കെ തകര്‍ക്കാനും കവര്‍ന്നെടുക്കാനും ആരാണ് നമുക്ക് അധികാരം നല്‍കിയത്? മലകളെ ഭൂമിയുടെ സന്തുലിതത്വത്തിനായാണ് താന്‍ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചതെന്ന് ദൈവം വിളംബരംചെയ്യുന്നു; വെള്ളം തന്‍െറ സൃഷ്ടികള്‍ക്കായി നല്‍കിയ അതി മഹത്തായ അനുഗ്രഹമാണെന്നും. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടില്‍ നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രകൃതിക്കുനേരെയുള്ള കൈയേറ്റം കടുത്ത ദൈവധിക്കാരമാണ്; കൊടിയ മതനിഷേധവും മാപ്പര്‍ഹിക്കാത്ത കുറ്റവുമാണ്.

തെറ്റുകുറ്റങ്ങളില്‍ ഏറ്റവും ഗുരുതരവും പൊറുക്കപ്പെടാന്‍ പ്രയാസകരവുമായത് മനുഷ്യന്‍ മനുഷ്യനോട് ചെയ്യുന്നവയാണ്. ആരാധനാ കര്‍മങ്ങള്‍ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് മനുഷ്യന്‍ ദൈവത്തോട് ചെയ്യുന്ന അപരാധമാണ്. മാപ്പപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് ദൈവമത് പൊറുത്തുകൊടുത്തേക്കാം. എന്നാല്‍, മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് പ്രയാസവും ദ്രോഹവും വരുത്തുന്നത് അതിനേക്കാള്‍ എത്രയോ ഇരട്ടി കുറ്റകരവും ശിക്ഷാര്‍ഹവുമാണ്. തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം കാരണം പ്രയാസമനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര്‍ മാപ്പാക്കിയാലേ ദൈവം അത് പൊറുക്കുകയുള്ളൂ. വായുവിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും മാരകമായ വസ്തുക്കള്‍ കലരാന്‍ ഇടവരുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത് മറ്റെന്തിനേക്കാളും ഗൗരവമേറിയ കൊടും പാപമാണ്. കാരണം, അത് ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ ആളുകളെ മാത്രമല്ല, ഒരു പ്രദേശത്തെ ഒന്നായാണ് ബാധിക്കുക; ഏതെങ്കിലും തലമുറയെ മാത്രമല്ല; തലമുറകളെയാണ് അപകടപ്പെടുത്തുക. പ്രകൃതിക്കുനേരെയുള്ള കൈയേറ്റവും ഇവ്വിധംതന്നെ. തകര്‍ക്കപ്പെടുന്ന മലകളും പാറകളും നികത്തപ്പെടുന്ന പാടങ്ങളും തോടുകളും പുനര്‍നിര്‍മിക്കാന്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും സാധ്യമല്ലെന്ന വസ്തുത വിസ്മരിക്കാവതല്ല. ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും തനിക്കും തന്‍െറ തലമുറക്കുമാണെന്ന ധാരണ അത്യന്തം അപകടകരമത്രെ.

ശുദ്ധവായു ശ്വസിക്കാനും ശുദ്ധജലം കുടിക്കാനും ശാന്തമായി ഉറങ്ങാനുമുള്ള മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ അവകാശം കവര്‍ന്നെടുത്താല്‍, ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന ആരാധനാകര്‍മങ്ങളുടെ സദ്ഫലം തന്നാല്‍ കഷ്ടനഷ്ടങ്ങളനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കേണ്ടിവരും. മതിയാകാതെവന്നാല്‍ അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഏറ്റെടുക്കാനും അങ്ങനെ ശിക്ഷാര്‍ഹനാകാനും നിര്‍ബന്ധിതനാകും. ഏറെപ്പേരും സാമൂഹികദ്രോഹ വൃത്തികളുടെ കുറ്റത്തിന്‍െറ ഗൗരവം ഇവ്വിധം ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളാറില്ലെന്നതാണ് വസ്തുത. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ദൈവത്തില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും പരലോകബോധമുള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുകയും ആരാധനാ കാര്യങ്ങളില്‍ നിഷ്ഠപുലര്‍ത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പലരും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് പ്രത്യക്ഷമായും പരോക്ഷമായും വന്‍ വിപത്തുകള്‍ വരുത്തുന്ന സാമൂഹിക വിദ്രോഹ വൃത്തികളില്‍ വ്യാപൃതരാവുന്നു. ജീവിക്കാന്‍ മാര്‍ഗമില്ലാതെ പട്ടിണിയും പ്രാരബ്ധവുമായി പ്രയാസപ്പെടുന്നവരല്ല പ്രകൃതിക്കുനേരെ കൈയേറ്റം നടത്തി ജനദ്രോഹ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളിലേര്‍പ്പെടുന്നത്, കോടിപതികളും ലക്ഷപ്രഭുക്കളുമാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ നിര്‍ബന്ധിതാവസ്ഥയുടെ ഇളവുപോലും അവര്‍ക്ക് ലഭിക്കുകയില്ല.

ഇവിടെ യഥാര്‍ഥ കുറ്റവാളികള്‍ മതപണ്ഡിതന്മാരും നേതാക്കളുമാണ്. തീര്‍ത്തും ഐച്ഛികമായ കര്‍മശാസ്ത്ര പ്രശ്നങ്ങളില്‍ തങ്ങളംഗീകരിച്ചതില്‍നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായ രീതി സ്വീകരിച്ചവരെ ബോധവത്കരിക്കാനും ഉപദേശിക്കാനും തിരുത്താനും തിടുക്കംകാണിക്കുന്ന മതനേതാക്കള്‍ അതിനേക്കാള്‍ എത്രയോ ഗുരുതരമായ സാമൂഹിക പ്രശ്നങ്ങളില്‍ കുറ്റകരമായ മൗനം പാലിക്കുന്നു. മതപണ്ഡിതന്മാര്‍ പൈശാചികമായ ഈ മൗനംവെടിഞ്ഞ്, വായുവിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും മണ്ണിലും വിണ്ണിലും മാലിന്യം കലര്‍ത്തുകയും പാറയും പര്‍വതവും തകര്‍ക്കുകയും തോടും പാടവും തൂര്‍ക്കുകയും അന്തരീക്ഷത്തെ വിഷമയമാക്കുകയും അങ്ങനെ ജനജീവിതത്തെ ദുസ്സഹവും ദുരിതപൂര്‍ണവുമാക്കുകയും ലോകാവസാനംവരെയുള്ള ദൈവസൃഷ്ടികളുടെ അവകാശങ്ങള്‍ കവര്‍ന്നെടുത്ത് പ്രകൃതിയെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ ബോധവത്കരിക്കുകയും വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന കൊടിയ ശിക്ഷയെക്കുറിച്ച് താക്കീത് നല്‍കുകയുമാണെങ്കില്‍ വമ്പിച്ച മാറ്റമുണ്ടാകും. ജനകീയ സമരങ്ങള്‍ അനിവാര്യമായിവരുന്ന സാമൂഹിക ദ്രോഹ വൃത്തികളില്‍ മതവിശ്വാസികളും പങ്കാളികളാകുന്നത് ഒരു പരിധിയോളമെങ്കിലും മതപണ്ഡിതന്മാരും നേതാക്കളും തങ്ങളുടെ ബാധ്യതകള്‍ യഥാവിധി നിര്‍വഹിക്കാത്തതിനാലാണ്. ബോധവത്കരണ ശ്രമങ്ങളിലെ മുന്‍ഗണനാ ക്രമം പാലിക്കാത്തതിനാലാണ്.

The World Before Mohammad The Messenger Of God

Egypt had a long and well known history of slavery. Both the Old Testament (Torah) and the Glorious Quran gives solid evidences on presence of Slavery in the African country.

Torah On The Presence of Slavery in Egypt 

It is a well known history that the Israelites were being kept as slaves in Egypt. It was prophet Moses who rescued them from the persecutions in Egypt. It was Moses who brought the children of Israel out of Egypt the house of slavery.

"Then take care lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” – Deuteronomy 6:12

Here, the Israelites were being reminded of the blessings of Almighty God that He took them out of persecution i.e. out of Egypt.

Quran - On The Presence of Slavery In Egypt

The ten sons of prophet Jacob who were in Egypt, plotted to kill their own blood brother prophet Joseph who was a child. Eventually they decided to abandon him and they threw him inside a well.

Later on, there came a caravan of travellers.

"And there came a caravan of travellers and they sent their water-drawer, and he let down his bucket (into the well)." - Quran 12:19.

One of the traveller found a boy in the well.

"He said: "What good news! Here is a boy.'' - Quran 12:19.

They made him a commodity to be sold in the market.

"So they hid him as merchandise (a slave)." - Quran 12:19.

And they sold him in the slave market.

"And they sold him for a few Dirhams." - Quran 12:20.

Both the above testimonies show the presence of the centuries old practices of slavery in the Egyptian soil. Other historical sources also clearly confirm this point.

"There were four classes of property. The first was that of immovables, to which belonged land; the second, movables which were inanimate, such as tools, clothing, money, etc. ; the third, movables which were animate, such as animals and slaves." - THE LAW OF EGYPT - Page 63, Historical Jurisprudence by Guy Carleton Lee.  

In Egypt, the slaves were counted along with the domestic animals such as cow, sheep, dog etc.

The World Before Mohammad The Messenger Of God

A glimpse on the conditions of this world before the arrival of Mohammad The Messenger of God would help to understand how he put forward his message that was claimed to be the revelations from Almighty God. Learning the conditions of the world before his arrival  would help to understand how he cured The Cancer that this planet was affected with.

The Roman Empire and its alliance were fully immersed in slavery. They built amphitheatres for Gladiators The Bloody-Sport.  Now comes the Egypt. 

In his account on the eastern countries like Egypt, Briffault explains the secrets of the east.

"A somewhat unpleasant admission has to be made. That inevitable sequence of events,  that absolutism of the great empires of the morning- land's, that wholesale subjugation of human herds, that unresisted tyranny which was founded in the very heart of the slave," - SECRET OF THE EAST, Page 108, Making of Humanity by Robert Briffault.

'Wholesale subjugation of human herds' - These are the precise words used by Briffault to explain the plight of the cattle-grade population who were called slaves. The absolutism of the empires was imposed on the slave population. Those helpless slave population had to bare all such autocratic rulers with unresisted tyranny.

It went well beyond those tyrannies. They had to mentally prostrate before the 'divine power' to keep their lives alive.

"in mental prostration before divine power, that fearful, willing, loyal abjection, that kismet of the river-lands, that terrible secret of the East -" - Ibid.

- For the slave population, their masters were their 'God'.

The Foundation Of Egypt

"The glory and the majesty of ancient Greece and Rome, as of ancient Egypt, had for their foundation a system of widespread slavery." - Jawaharlal Nehru, Page 83, Glimpses of World History.

Going through the pages of history, It can be very clearly seen that the world was immersed in the practices of slavery. No country of this world was completely free from using humans as slaves. The terrible secret of Egypt was the foundation of widespread slavery.

"That terrible secret of the East - was the foundation, the indispensable foundation of civilization. Without it Greece, Europe would have been impossible. I call it an "unpleasant admission " because it would be fine to be able to say that human civilization is the child of freedom, that it is incompatible with tyranny and slavery." - Page 109, Making of Humanity by Robert Briffault.

Civilization is one of the indispensable part of human growth throughout the history. Egypt was not different from the rest of the world. It had a great civilization. But those civilization was marred by the practices of slavery. 

Civilization Built Using Kurbash

Kurbash is a tool for punishment. It is flexible and is about a yard in length. Egypt was known for the use of Kurbash. They used the Kurbash to discipline animals and slaves.

"As a matter of fact men never bethought themselves of building decent homes for themselves until they had seen gorgeous palaces and temples built with the tears and blood of thousands;" - Ibid, Page 109.

- Slaves were the 'manufacturing machines' for building enormous palaces.

"They never bethought themselves of living in reasonable comfort until they had witnessed the opulence and luxurious orgies of satraps and kings; they never bethought themselves of controlling the forces of nature till herds of human chattels under the kurbash of their slave-drivers had dug canals and artificial lakes, embanked rivers, and quarried mountains ;" - Ibid, Page 109.

- They built marvels under the kurbash of slave-drivers.

The 'Fruits' Of Slavery

"Commanding inexhaustible supplies of forced labour ready at hand to carry out their will, the priests of Sumer and Babylon and Egypt devised, contemplated, thought, discovered;

they brought forth architectural and pictorial arts, crafts, industries, taught men to chisel stone, hammer and inlay metals, glaze pottery and tiles, blow glass, ..." - Ibid, Page 109.

Slaves became the symbol of forced labour. Never ending supply of slaves were one of the treasures of this world using which countries like Egypt built their country. Under the glory and the majesty of territorial emperors, there were the Sweat, the Blood and the Spoils
of the poor slaves.

Emperors Who Were 'god'

Egypt was known for god rulers. Emperors who dictated the country were almost treated as the god of the Egyptian people. These god rulers dictates their will and imposed it on the people, be it good or bad.

"In Egypt there was no republic, but a monarchy, and the ruler was not only supreme, but was considered almost a god."- Jawaharlal Nehru, Page 89, Glimpses of World History.

Above is only a tiny and extremely limited account on the conditions of this world, especially Egypt, before the arrival of Mohammad The Messenger of God.

Mohammad The Messenger of God

Eradication of Slavery by Integration. This is one of the precise wordings on what and how   he could achieve in the marvellous episode of treating one of the cancerous disease named Slavery.

Mohammad The Messenger of God didn't have the crown of any of the emperor. He didn't have the authority of any monastery. But he did have a profound message for the whole universe. 

Following were the three worst conditions of this world during arrival of Mohammad The Messenger of God.

• The world emperors of that time considered themselves as god.  
• The rich upper class people of that time considered themselves as masters of their slaves.
• The poor cattle-grade slave people had no option except being a cattle-grade slave of a rude master.

All such Emperors, all such Masters, all such Slaves, Mohammad The Messenger of God literally called them by one of the verses of Glorious Quran.

"There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Gracious as a slave." - Quran 19:93.

The above Quranic verse called the whole humanity to a common message, to a common platform. Never in the history, have we seen such a great message that called these three parties onto a common platform of unity.

For an Emperor, the above Quranic verse reminded him - You are not god. There is only one God and that you are only a slave of Almighty God, The God of Universe.

For  a Master, the above Quranic verse reminded him - You are not a master. There is only One Master and that you are only a slave of that Master, The Master of Universe.

For a Slave, the above Quranic verse reminded him - You are not a Slave of a puny human; rather you are a slave of Almighty God, The Most Gracious to His slaves.

As a result - 

• Negus, The King of Ethiopia accepted the message.
• Slave masters in the Arabian continent started accepting the message.

ലോകാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ തന്നെ വിവിധ സംഘടനകളും സാംസ്‌കാരിക സംഘങ്ങളും രാഷ്ട്രീയപ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം നവോത്ഥാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചര്‍ച്ചകളും ചിന്തകളും നടത്തിവരികയാണ്. അടിസ്ഥാന ആദര്‍ശത്തിലും വിശ്വാസ ആചാരങ്ങളിലും അടിയുറച്ച് നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ആധുനിക കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ സാമൂഹ്യപുരോഗതിക്ക് അനുസൃതമായി മാറ്റം വരുത്തേണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടുകയും നടപ്പാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുകയെന്നതാണ് മുസ്ലിം നവോത്ഥാനം എന്നതുകൊണ്ട് മുഖ്യമായും ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കുന്നത്. പത്തൊമ്പതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാനവും ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ആരംഭവുമാണ് കേരളത്തിന്റെ നവോത്ഥാന കാലഘട്ടമായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. മതത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ പുരോഹിതന്മാരാല്‍ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട് എല്ലാ സമുദായങ്ങളിലെയും ജനങ്ങള്‍ കഷ്‌ടപ്പാട് അനുഭവിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലഘട്ടമായിരുന്നു അത്.

ഹിന്ദു സമുദായത്തില്‍ സതി, ഉച്ച നീചത്വങ്ങള്‍, തിരണ്ട് കല്യാണം, വിധവയായ സ്‌ത്രീ തലമുണ്ഡനം ചെയ്‌ത് ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട് ജീവിക്കുക  തുടങ്ങിയ ജീര്‍ണ്ണതകള്‍ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ നടപ്പാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ‘വിദ്യകൊണ്ട് പ്രബുദ്ധരാവുക, സംഘടിച്ച് ശക്തരാവുക‘ എന്ന മുദ്രാവാക്യമുയര്‍ത്തി രംഗത്തു വന്ന ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരുവും പുലയ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് സ്‌കൂള്‍ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നടപ്പാക്കി വിപ്ലവം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച അയ്യങ്കാളിയുമൊക്കെ ഹിന്ദു നവോത്ഥാന നായകരില്‍ പ്രമുഖരാണ്.  

പുരോഹിതന്മാരാല്‍ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട് ഭൌതിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പോലും വിലക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന മുസ്ലിം സമുദായത്തില്‍ അങ്ങിങ്ങായി ചില നവോത്ഥാന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ഒരു സംഘടിതമായ നവോത്ഥാന മുന്നേറ്റം സാധ്യമാകുന്നത് കേരള മുസ്ലിം ഐക്യസംഘത്തിന്റെ രൂപീകരണത്തോടെയാണ്. തിരുവനന്തപുരം കേന്ദ്രമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന വക്കം മൌലവി, മദ്ധ്യ കേരളത്തില്‍ മണപ്പാട് കുഞ്ഞഹമ്മദ് ഹാജിയുടെയൊക്കെ സഹായത്തോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയിരുന്ന കെ എം മൌലവി, ഇ കെ മൌലവി, വടക്കന്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന പി അബ്ദുല്‍ഖാദര്‍ മൌലവി തുടങ്ങിയ നവോത്ഥാന നായകര്‍ ഐക്യസംഘത്തിലൂടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ ഏകോപിപ്പിക്കുകയും വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുകയുമായിരുന്നു.   

കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിലെ എറിയാട് പ്രദേശത്ത് രൂപം കൊണ്ട ഐക്യസംഘം പന്ത്രണ്ട് വര്‍ഷം കൊണ്ട് കേരളത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലായി ലോക മുസ്ലിം പണ്ഡിതന്മാരെ പങ്കെടുപ്പിച്ച് പന്ത്രണ്ട് വലിയ സമ്മേളനങ്ങള്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. വമ്പിച്ച ഒരു ചലനമായിരുന്നു അത്. തിരൂരില്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു സമ്മേളനം പരാജയപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ വേണ്ടി ഒരു പ്രദേശം തന്നെ ഹര്‍ത്താല്‍ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുകയും വാഹനവും ഭക്ഷണവും നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. വളരെയധികം സ്‌കൂളുകള്‍ ഇക്കാലത്ത് നിര്‍മ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1924 ല്‍ പണ്ഡിതന്മാരെ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച് കേരള ജംഇയ്യത്തുല്‍ ഉലമ രൂപീകരിച്ചു. കേരള ജംഇയ്യത്തുല്‍ ഉലമ ശക്തമായതോടെ ഐക്യസംഘം പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം നിര്‍ത്തിവെച്ചു. കേരള ജംഇയ്യത്തുല്‍ ഉലമയുടെ ശക്തമായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തന മുന്നേറ്റത്തില്‍ അതൃപ്‌തരായ ഒരു വിഭാഗം സമസ്‌ത കേരള ജംഇയ്യത്തുല്‍ ഉലമ രൂപീകരിച്ച് പിരിഞ്ഞു പോയി.  ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ച് കൊല്ലത്തെ ശക്തമായ നവോത്ഥാന മുന്നേറ്റത്തിനു ശേഷം 1950 കേരള നദ്‌വത്തുല്‍ മുജാഹിദീന്‍ രൂപീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 

പതിനാല് പേര്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നാണ് കെഎന്‍എം രൂപീകരിച്ചത്. അവരില്‍ അവസാനമായി മരണപ്പെട്ടത് മര്‍ഹൂം കുഞ്ഞോയി വൈദ്യര്‍ ആണ്. 1960കളുടെ അവസാനത്തോടെ കേരളമൊട്ടാകെ പ്രസ്ഥാനം വ്യാപിക്കുകയും ദീനീ ബോധമുള്ളവരുടെ ഒരു ഐക്യവേദിയായി കെഎന്‍എം ഉയരുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. ഇരുപത് വര്‍ഷത്തെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം കൊണ്ട് കേരളത്തിലെ എല്ലാ വിഭാഗം ജനങ്ങളുടെയും ജീവിതത്ത സ്‌പര്‍ശിക്കുന്ന മഹാപ്രസ്ഥാനമായി കെഎന്‍എം മാറി. എല്ലാവരെയും ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളാന്‍ മാത്രം പ്രസ്ഥാനം വിശാലമായിരുന്നു. സ്ത്രീധനത്തിനെതിരെയുള്ള പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം, സ്ത്രീ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം തുടങ്ങി ചില വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ മാത്രം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട് പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തോട് സഹകരിക്കുന്നവരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മറ്റു വിഷയങ്ങളിലുള്ള അവരുടെ വിയോജിപ്പ് വിശാ‍ല മനസ്സോടെ കാണുമായിരുന്നു. 

ഇസ്ലാമിക പ്രബോധന സംഘങ്ങള്‍ മറ്റു സമുദായങ്ങളിലുള്ള ജാതീയതയുടെ രൂപമാവരുത്.  നാം മുന്നോട്ട് വെക്കുന്ന ആശയങ്ങള്‍ ശരിയാണെന്ന് ബോധ്യമുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരുമിക്കുവാനും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുവാനും അവസരമൊരുക്കുന്ന ഒരു കൂട്ടായ്‌മയാണ് സംഘടന. ഒരു പ്രദേശത്ത് ഒരേ ആശയത്തില്‍ ഒന്നിലധികം സംഘടനകള്‍ക്ക് സൌഹാര്‍ദ്ദത്തോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാവുന്ന വിധം സംഘടനകള്‍ വിശാലമാകണം. ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ മുസ്ലിം സംഘടനകള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ ജംഇയ്യത്തു അന്‍സാറുസ്സുന്നയും, ജംഇയ്യതുശറഇയ്യയും ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളാണ്. പാക്കിസ്ഥാനിലും, ബംഗ്ലാദേശിലും, യമനിലും ബാംഗ്ലൂരുമെല്ലാം വിവിധ സംഘടനകള്‍ സഹകരിച്ച് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത് കാണാം. വിയോജിക്കുന്ന വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ വിയോജിച്ചും, യോജിക്കാവുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളില്‍ സഹകരിച്ചും, വിയോജിക്കുവാനുള്ള അവസരം എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും വകവെച്ചു കൊടുത്തും നന്മകളെ പരസ്പരം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തുകയെന്നതാവണം കേരളത്തിലും നാം അനുവര്‍ത്തിക്കേണ്ട നവോത്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ രീതിശാസ്‌ത്രം. മുജാഹിദ് പ്രസ്ഥാനം ഈ പാരമ്പര്യം കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിച്ചു പോന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. തിരൂരങ്ങാടി യതീംഖാന കാമ്പസിലെ പള്ളിക്ക് സമസ്‌ത നേതാവ് ബാഫഖി തങ്ങള്‍ തറക്കല്ലിട്ടത് കെ എം മൌലവിയുടെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതയില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ വെച്ചായിരുന്നു. മലപ്പുറത്ത് ഒരു ഈദ് ഗാഹില്‍ പിപി അബ്ദുല്‍ ഗഫൂര്‍ മൌലവി ഖുതുബ നിര്‍വഹിക്കുകയും പാണക്കാട് പൂക്കോയ തങ്ങള്‍ ഇമാമായി നമസ്‌ക്കാരം നിര്‍വഹിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്‌തത് മുജാഹിദ് പ്രസ്ഥാനം പുലര്‍ത്തിയിരുന്ന ഉയര്‍ന്ന ചിന്തയുടെയും വിശാലതയുടെയും ഫലമായിരുന്നു. ഒരു വിഭാഗം സത്യമാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത് സത്യമല്ലെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കാനും അതിനു വേണ്ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുവാനും മറ്റൊരു വിഭാഗത്തിനുള്ള സ്വാതന്ത്യം നാം അംഗീകരിക്കണം. മുസ്ലിം സംഘടനകളിലും പണ്ഡിതന്മാരിലും പലരും ഈ സ്വാതന്ത്യം പരസ്‌പരം അംഗീകരിച്ചു കൊടുക്കാത്തതിനാലാണ് ശാന്തമായി നടക്കേണ്ട പ്രബോധന, പ്രചാരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ പലപ്പോഴും വൈരാഗ്യത്തിന്റെയും അശാന്തിയുടെയും രൂപം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നത്.   പ്രബോധന രംഗത്ത് മുജാഹിദ് പ്രസ്ഥാനം പുലര്‍ത്തിപ്പോന്ന പൈതൃകവും പാരമ്പര്യവും രീതിയും സൂക്ഷിച്ച് മുന്നോട്ട് പോവാന്‍ നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കണം. അതില്‍ നിന്ന് പുറകോട്ട് പോവാന്‍ ആരൊക്കെ ശ്രമിച്ചാലും അംഗീകരിക്കാനാവില്ല.

കോഴിക്കോട് കലക്‌ടര്‍ പി പി സലീം മുന്‍കയ്യെടുത്ത് നടപ്പാക്കിയ സംയുക്ത ഈദ്ഗാഹും തുടര്‍ന്ന് ധാരണയിലെത്തിയ കണ്ണൂര്‍, പൊന്നാനി ഈദ്ഗാഹുകളുമെല്ലാം യോജിപ്പിന്റെ പുതിയ മേഖലകള്‍ തുറക്കുന്നു. ഇതുമായി സഹകരിക്കുകയോ നിസ്സഹകരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്‌താല്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു സംഘടനക്ക് പ്രത്യേക നേട്ടമോ കോട്ടമോ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നില്ല. സൌഹൃദ വേദിയുടെയും മറ്റും പ്രവര്‍ത്തനഫലമായി കേരളത്തില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞ പത്തുവര്‍ഷമായി പെരുന്നാള്‍ യോജിച്ച് വരുന്നു. ഒരു മര്യാദയിലൂടെ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നീക്കിയാല്‍ ഐക്യത്തോടെ നീങ്ങാവുന്ന ഇത്തരം നിരവധി മേഖലകള്‍ ഉണ്ട്. നന്മയെന്താണെന്ന് നോക്കി അത് പ്രാവര്‍ത്തികമാക്കുന്നതാന് നവോത്ഥാനം.

ബഹുസ്വര സമൂഹത്തില്‍ മുസ്ലിംകള്‍ അനുവര്‍ത്തിക്കേണ്ട നിലപാടുകളില്‍ തീരുമാനമെടുക്കേണ്ടത് മുസ്ലിം ഭൂരിപക്ഷ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ പണ്ഡിതന്മാരല്ല, ഓരോ രാജ്യത്തെയും സാഹചര്യങ്ങള്‍ പഠിച്ച ആ നാട്ടുകാരായ പണ്ഡിതന്മാരാണ് അവിടുത്തെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളില്‍ ഫത്‌വ നല്‍കേണ്ടത്. ബഹുസ്വരതയെ ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളാനാവാത്ത വിധം പലരും സങ്കുചിതമാവുന്നു. സ്വദേശാഭിമാനി രാമകൃഷ്‌ണപിള്ളയെ തന്റെ പത്രത്തിന്റെ എഡിറ്ററാക്കിയ വക്കം മൌലവി നമുക്കെന്നും മാതൃകയാണ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ നാലുവര്‍ഷമായി സൌദി ഭരണാധികാരി അബ്ദുല്ല രാജാവിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ വിവിധ രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളിലായി നടന്നുവരുന്ന ‘ഇന്റര്‍ ഫെയിത്ത്’ കോണ്‍ഫറന്‍സില്‍ ലോകത്തെ വിവിധ മതവിഭാഗങ്ങളിലെ പ്രമുഖര്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാവരുടെയും വിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമപ്പുറം പരസ്‌പരം ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടേണ്ട മാനുഷിക വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ തീരുമാനങ്ങളെടുക്കേണ്ട വേദിയെന്ന് അബ്ദുല്ലരാജാവ് വിശദീകരിച്ച ഈ സമ്മേളനത്തെ ഒരു ‘പുതുയുഗപ്പിറവി’ എന്നാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത്. 

മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളില്‍ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൂടെ, സമുദായത്തിന്റെ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളില്‍ സമുദായത്തോടൊപ്പം, രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രശ്‌നത്തില്‍ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂടെ എന്ന മുജാഹിദ് പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രവും പാരമ്പര്യവും മറന്നുള്ള യാതൊരു പ്രവര്‍ത്തനവുമായും സഹകരിക്കാനാവില്ല. പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ശക്‌തമായ ഇടപെടലിലൂടെ മറ്റു വിഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ ധാരാളം മാറ്റങ്ങളുണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്‌ത്രീ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പോലുള്ള സമൂഹം മാറിക്കഴിഞ്ഞ വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും പഴയ നിലപാടുകള്‍ ഇടക്കിടെ എടുത്തു കാണിച്ച് പ്രതിസ്ഥാനത്ത് നിര്‍ത്തി വാശി വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാതെ മാറാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കുക. 

ലോകത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലും സംസ്‌കരണം അഥവാ ഇസ്ലാഹ് നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ തന്നെ വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ ഇസ്ലാഹി പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ആദര്‍ശം പാലിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളുണ്ട്. മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് കേരളത്തില്‍ മുസ്ലിംകളുടെ ഭൌതിക പുരോഗതി ആശാവഹമാണ്. അടിസ്ഥാന ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ പോലും സാധിക്കാത്ത വിധം കഷ്‌ടപ്പെടുന്ന മുസ്ലിം സമൂഹം ബീഹാര്‍, ത്സാര്‍ഖണ്ട്, ആസാം, ഹരിയാന, ബംഗാള്‍ തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലുണ്ട്. ഇസ്ലാഹി ആദര്‍ശവുമായി യോജിച്ചുപോവുന്ന വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ പണ്ഡിതപ്രതിനിധികള്‍ കേരള മോഡല്‍ സംഘടനാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം പഠിക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി പനമരം മുജാഹിദ് സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും അവിടെ വെച്ച് ഓള്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഇസ്ലാഹി മൂവ്‌മെന്റ് എന്ന സംഘടന രൂപപ്പെടുകയുമായിരുന്നു. ഈ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്‍പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചാല്‍ നവോത്ഥാനപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ കേരളത്തിന്റെ പുറത്തേക്ക് വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്റെ ആവശ്യകത ബോദ്ധ്യമാവും. കേരളത്തില്‍ നൂറു വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പ് നടത്തിയിരുന്ന വിധം പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തേണ്ട വിധം മൌലാനമാരാല്‍ സ്‌കൂള്‍ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും, പാന്റ്സ് ധരിക്കുന്നതുമൊക്കെ നിഷിദ്ധമായിക്കാണുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടങ്ങളില്‍ ധാരാളമുണ്ട്. കേരളത്തെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് വളരെ ചുരുങ്ങിയ ചിലവില്‍ ഇവിടെ വിവിധ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്താനാവും. കിണര്‍, കക്കൂസ്, മദ്രസ, പള്ളി തുടങ്ങി ചെറുതും വലുതുമായ അഞ്ഞൂറോളം പദ്ധതികള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞ അഞ്ചുവര്‍ഷക്കാലം കൊണ്ട് നടപ്പാ‍ക്കാന്‍ ഓള്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഇസ്ലാഹി മൂവ്‌മെന്റിന് സാധിച്ചു. 

ഭാഷയിലെ വൈവിധ്യം കൊണ്ടും യാത്രാക്ലേശം കൊണ്ടും വിവിധ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുമായി നാം ഗള്‍ഫ് രാജ്യങ്ങളേക്കാള്‍ അകലങ്ങളിലാണ്. നൂറുകണക്കിന് ആളുകള്‍ മരിക്കുകയും അര ലക്ഷത്തോളം പേര്‍ വീടുകളില്‍ നിന്ന് പുറത്താക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്‌ത അസം കലാപപ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുവാനും തങ്ങളാല്‍ ആവുന്നത് ചെയ്യുവാനും ഇസ്ലാഹി മൂവ്‌മെന്റിന് സാധിച്ചു. ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകളെ പാര്‍പ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന 280 ടെന്റുകള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തുണ്ട്. അവയില്‍ പലതും പ്രാഥമിക കൃത്യങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍വഹിക്കാന്‍ പോലും സാധിക്കാത്ത വിധം ശോചനീയമാണ്. ചില ടെന്റുകളെങ്കിലും തങ്ങള്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുന്നതിനു മുമ്പെ ആരും സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുകയോ സഹായങ്ങള്‍ എത്തിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാത്തവയായിരുന്നു. ഇവരെ സഹായിക്കണമെന്ന് ലോകത്തോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുവാനും വിവിധ സംഘടനകളെ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുവാനും നമുക്ക് സാധിച്ചു. ഇതൊരു ചെറിയ കാര്യമല്ല. 

ഉത്തരേന്ത്യയില്‍ തണുപ്പ് കാലം വരാന്‍ പോവുകയാണ്. ദുര്‍ബ്ബലമായ ടെന്റുകളിലും മറ്റും കഴിയുന്ന മൂന്നര ലക്ഷത്തിലധികം വരുന്ന അഭയാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് അടുത്തൊന്നും തിരിച്ചു പോവാനാവില്ല. പുതക്കാന്‍ ഒരു കമ്പിളി വസ്‌ത്രമെങ്കിലും ലഭിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില്‍ തണുപ്പ് സഹിക്കാനാവാതെ മരണപ്പെട്ടു പോവുന്ന അവസ്ഥയിലാണവര്‍. നാനൂറ് രൂപ വീതം ഒരു കമ്പിളി വസ്‌ത്രത്തിനു വില വരും. ഇസ്ലാഹി മൂവ്മെന്റ് ഈ ദൌത്യം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുകയാണ്. 

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മുസ്ലിംകളുടെ കഷ്‌ടപ്പാട് മുഴുവനായി തീര്‍ക്കുവാനൊന്നും നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ ഭക്ഷണം, വസ്‌ത്രം, മരുന്ന് തുടങ്ങിയ അടിസ്ഥാന ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ നിറവേറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുവാനും പൊതുസമൂഹത്തെയും സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനകളെയും ഇത്തരം പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളില്‍ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുവാനും നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കും. താരതമ്യേന ഭേദപ്പെട്ട നിലയില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ ഇസ്ലാമിക ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്ന നാം അല്ലാഹു നല്‍കിയ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങളോട് നന്ദി കാണിക്കുന്നത് ഇത്തരം ദുര്‍ബ്ബലന്മാരെ സഹായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാവണം. അത്യാവശ്യം കഴിഞ്ഞും അമിതമായും ആര്‍ഭാടത്തിനും നാം ചിലവഴിക്കുന്ന പണത്തിന്റെ ചെറിയൊരു ഭാഗമെങ്കിലും ഈ രീതിയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി വെക്കുവാന്‍ തയ്യാറായില്ലെങ്കില്‍ കഷ്‌ടപ്പാടും പ്രയാസങ്ങളും നമ്മെയും പിടികൂടാമെന്ന ബോധം നമുക്കുണ്ടാവണം. 

കഴിഞ്ഞ പത്ത് വര്‍ഷമായി കേരളത്തിലെ ഇസ്ലാഹി പ്രസ്ഥാനം പ്രയാസകരമായ ഘട്ടത്തിലൂടെയാണ് നീങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. കഠിനാദ്ധ്വാനം ചെയ്‌ത് വളര്‍ത്തിയെടുത്തവരുടെ സൂക്ഷ്‌മത പലപ്പോഴും അവരെ കാണുക മാത്രം ചെയ്‌ത അടുത്ത തലമുറ കാണിച്ചെന്നു വരില്ല. പൂര്‍വ്വികരുടെ പരിശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ കാണുക പോലും ചെയ്യാത്ത പുതിയ തലമുറയില്‍ പലരും അവരെ അവഗണിച്ച് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചെന്നു വരും. വലിയ ഒരു സമൂഹത്തില്‍ ഒരേ ആശയത്തില്‍ ഒന്നിലധികം പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുകയാവാം. എന്നാല്‍, ഇസ്ലാഹി പ്രസ്ഥാനം വളര്‍ത്തിയെടുത്ത നവോത്ഥാന മൂല്യങ്ങള്‍ തകിടം മറിക്കും വിധം അന്ധവിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുവാനും അന്ധകാരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പുനരാനയിക്കുവാനും ഈ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ മേല്‍വിലാസം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തിയതാണ് വിമര്‍ശിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. തുടക്കത്തിലേ നിയന്ത്രിക്കേണ്ടവര്‍ വളരെ വൈകി മാത്രം ഇത് മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയും നടപടികള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തപ്പോള്‍ പുതിയ പിളര്‍പ്പിലേക്കും പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളിലേക്കും നീങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം ഇതില്‍ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നവരല്ല. ഇസ്ലാഹി പ്രസ്ഥാനം ഒന്നിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കണമെന്നതാണ് നമ്മുടെ നിലപാട്. എന്നാല്‍ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ‘വ്യക്തത‘യുണ്ടായിരിക്കണം.

ഉദ്ദേശശുദ്ധിയെ പോലും തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിധം വളച്ചൊടിക്കലും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കലും ഇന്ന് സാര്‍വ്വത്രികമായിരിക്കുന്നു. യോജിക്കാവുന്ന മേഖലയില്‍ മറ്റുള്ളവരുമായി സഹകരിക്കുന്ന സന്ദര്‍ഭങ്ങളെ പലപ്പോഴും വളച്ചൊടിച്ച് വ്യതിയാനമായി പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ആരെന്തൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞാലും സമുദായത്തിന്റെ ഐക്യവും സാഹോദര്യവും ഉയര്‍ത്തിപ്പിടിക്കേണ്ടിടത്ത് സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം അറിയിക്കാതിരിക്കാന്‍ ഈ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ പാരമ്പര്യവും ചരിത്രവും ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് സാധിക്കില്ല.

നവോത്ഥാനം ഒരു ഒഴുക്കാണ്. ഒഴുകുന്ന പുഴ നിലനില്‍ക്കുകയും അതിലെ വെള്ളം മാറിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പോലെ നവോത്ഥാന പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും വിഷയങ്ങളും മാറിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും. നൂറു വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പത്തെ വിഷയമല്ല ഇന്ന്. തൌഹീദ് പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിടത്ത് സാംസ്‌കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്താതിരുന്നാല്‍ അധാര്‍മ്മികത കടന്നുവരും. തിന്മകള്‍ക്ക് പാര്‍ട്ടിയില്ല. ഒരു വ്യക്തി ചെയ്യുന്ന തിന്മയെ അയാള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന സംഘടനയുമായി ചേര്‍ത്തിപ്പറയുന്നത് ശരിയല്ല. തിരുത്തുകയോ പിന്‍മാറുകയോ ചെയ്‌ത വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ വീണ്ടും അവരെ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത് മാന്യതയല്ല. 

ഹറമില്‍ നമസ്‌കരിക്കുകയും ഹജ്ജ് ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരില്‍ സ്ത്രീ പള്ളി പ്രവേശത്തെ എതിര്‍ക്കുന്നവരും സുബ്‌ഹി നമസ്‌കാരത്തില്‍ ഖുനൂത് നിര്‍വഹിക്കുന്നവരുമുണ്ട്. വിവിധ മദ്‌ഹബുകാരും മദ്‌ഹബ് അംഗീകരിക്കാത്തവരുമുണ്ട്. യോജിക്കാവുന്നതില്‍ യോജിച്ചും യോജിക്കാനാവാത്തവയില്‍ മാന്യമായി മാറിനിന്നും ഹറമിലെ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളുമായി സഹകരിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ നാട്ടിലും സാധിക്കേണ്ടതാണല്ലോ ? നിസ്സാരമായ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളെ പര്‍വ്വതീകരിച്ച് വഷളാക്കുന്ന സംസ്‌കാരം തിരുത്താന്‍ നവോത്ഥാന പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സാധിക്കണം. ഇസ്ലാഹി സെന്റര്‍ ജിദ്ദ ഈ രംഗത്ത് നടത്തുന്ന സേവനങ്ങള്‍ വലുതാണ്. അല്ലാഹു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ.   

   

Auto Drivers Now Turn ‘Divine Couriers’

Bangalore. July 26,2012. Autorickshaw drivers in Bangalore do not enjoy the best of reputation. People rather detest them for their behaviour bordering on arrogance and a lack of concern for the hapless commuters.
Which is why even a small act of virtue such as polite conduct by auto drivers makes the news. But wait here’s an example which would surely make you change your opinion about auto drivers.

Salaam Centre, a City-based NGO known for its ‘Quran For All’ programme has launched a unique scheme to introduce Allah’s message and the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to non-Muslims.

In the past the NGO distributed free copies of the Quran at High Court of Karnataka as well as at courts in RamanagarBelgaumHubli-Dharwad. Copies of the Quran were also distributed  at State police headquarters State intelligence headquarters and police commissionerate Bangalore.

After a successful campaign through outdoor hoardings and participation in various book fairs including the International Book Fair at DelhiSalaam Centre has now set out on a mission which should certainly be praised for its creativity. The NGO is using auto drivers as a liaison to spread the word of Allah to non-Muslims.

To begin with it has fixed scientifically designed metallic boxes right behind the driver’s seat in 50 autos. These boxes contain leaflets on such topics as the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid)introduction to the life story of Prophet Muhammad (saws) (Seerah)Life After Death (Akhirah)HijabIslam and terrorism ,etc. A book on removing common misconceptions about Islam is also provided. The topics of literature keep changing every month.

Passengers are encouraged to pick the leaflets during travel. Syed Hamid MohsinChairmanSalaam Centre says the response has been “amazing”. “We are tempted to believe that it’s a simple yet affective way of removing misconceptions about Islam and bringing Muslims and followers of others religions closer” Mr. Mohsin said.

Passengers who show interest in reading more on Islam are given a Quran gift box that contains a copy of the Holy Quran‘Follow me’ – a biography of Prophet Muhammed (s)and another book on Islam. The gift box is delivered to their address after they fill a simple form.
The scheme was formally launched by Mr. Mohsin at the Richmond Road branch of Salaam Centre on July 22. “The Indian society is in desperate need of a communication between the two communities. Non-Muslims are eager to know about Islam and the life of Prophet Muhammed (saws)” he explained.

At the launch programmeSalaam Centre also screened a documentary on the response of non-Muslims recorded at various ‘Quran for All’ pavilions.

Nissar Ahmed, an auto driver from D.J. Halli was the first to support the initiative. His friends soon joined. Their spirit is commendable. Mr. Ahmed already boasts of an award. The Commissioner of Bangalore City police presented him the award of the most honest auto driver.
Mr. Ahmed lost his father while his mission was in progress. But he didn’t lose sight of his objective according to Akbar Ali President and CEOmPower.

One dayMr. Ahmed was with Mr. Akbar busy in this mission. They finished the work at 10.30 pm. The next morning Mr. Akbar found him in the graveyard. He learnt only to his surprise that Mr. Ahmed’s father died at 7.30 PM the previous day when they were at work! Mr. Ahmed knew the fact but preferred Allah’s work to his father’s funeral. He reached his house only after the work was completed. “We all need to salute him for his commitment to Allah’s cause” Mr. Akbar said. “It was time we compared our commitment with his. Dawah requires sincerity dedication and devotion of the highest order.”

Khader Basha is another auto driver who has wholeheartedly supported the endeavour. He says the initiative is benefitting him more than his passengers. “It has actually helped me to be upright in my daily life. Now many a time I feel ashamed to fleece customers” he said.
These ‘divine couriers’ have many interesting anecdotes to narrate. Hafiz Mohammed Sadiq another driver recalls a Hindu priest once boarded his three-wheeler. During the travel he read the pamphlets and was impressed. “Today I happened to take an auto as my car broke down. I am amazed by the way you are spreading the message of Islam” he remarked and sought a copy of the Kannada translation of the Quran.

Mr. Basha has a similar story to narrate. A man boarded his auto from Hebbal to be dropped to a far-off place. He also picked many leaflets during the travel and quickly glanced at them. He evinced interest in reading more. He had a few questions for Mr. Basha and asked him if he could deliver a copy of the Quran.

Mr. Basha was more than happy to oblige him the very next day. When he reached the man’s househe was offered Rs. 1000 which he declined. “Sirlet me take the reward in the Hereafter.” The man was stunned by Mr. Basha’s reply. “My only request to you is to read and understand it and convey its message to your family and friends. I’ll be more delighted if you introduce this Quran to your friends and give me an opportunity to gift a copy to them as well” Mr. Basha told him.

Mr. Ahmed was once followed by a police patrol vehicle and had to stop his three-wheeler at Vellara Junction. A thousand worries struck him. He went up to the policeman in the patrol vehicle and asked about the matter. The policeman replied. “Nothing. I just wanted a copy of ‘Tappukalpanegalu’ (a book on misconceptions about Islam). I had once seen it while on VIP duty. I’ve since then been looking for it. When I saw the book in your autoI started following you.”

The efforts of these auto drivers and Salaam Centre should be emulated all over the State. Other Muslim NGOs can also adopt this simple yet effective way of introducing Islam to non-Muslims.

An Offensive Film? The Prophetic Action Plan

In the light of the recent movie that was spread, insulting the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Islam, and after some Muslims added to the insult and proved their opponents' accusations, I tend to ask myself a simple yet fundamental question:

What would he have done in a similar situation?

Did he face a similar situation, to begin with?

Of course he did, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) faced a lot of difficulties and hardships during his life, and defamation and insults. After a quick review of these incidents, we can come up with an action plan of six steps:

Step 1: Take it easy! "They are talking about someone else"

Umm Jameel bint Harb, the wife of Abu Lahab, who is mentioned in the Qur'an (Al-Masad 111:4-5), made up some verses of poetry to defame the Prophet by changing his name to "Mothammam" (i.e. the insulted one) as opposed to "Muhammad" (i.e. the praised one). She said verses like:

We disobey "Mothammam",

And refuse his matter,

And reject his religion.

Poetry at that time was THE media, these verses were spread everywhere, repeated by kids and by travelers in the deserts, so it had a huge effect. Umm Jameel's short poem made some companions sad, angry, and helpless, especially in the early days of Islam when they were weak. Here comes the great attitude of the praised one, peace and blessings on him, whom I sacrifice my family and my soul for. He told the companions:

Isn't it amazing how Allah is protecting me from the Quraish's insults? They are cursing and swearing at "Mothammam", and I am "Muhammad"!(Al-Bukhari) 

The first step in answering or reacting to any insult against our Prophet, to any act of burning the Qur'an by a bigot, to any tweet or to any YouTube comment is to take it easy, rationalize the situation, don't let your anger lead your steps. In a beautiful hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) redefines strength:

The strong is not the one who overcomes people by use of his physical strength; rather he is the one who controls himself while in anger. (Al-Bukhari)

Step 2: Find the "Oprah Winfrey" of your time

I envy Hassaan for his role in supporting Islam through his media and art work.

After you take it easy, rationalize your steps and prepare a counter attack, using the same resources of the bigots, the same media outlet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)  used poetry in his long campaign of spreading Islam and answering these insults. Hassan ibn Thabet was one of those poets (media figures) who can be considered the Oprah Winfrey of his time. He was wealthy, his words were heard, and his verses reached many places and knocked many doors in the Arab community that adored poetry. His style was unique in defending Islam and the Prophet, while attacking Quraish (the main tribe in Makkah that was opposing the Muslims and leading the pagans) in their ego; Instead of attacking their beliefs in being idol worshippers (which is something they were proud of), he used to remind them about their lost battles, their weak points in terms of lineage, and other known sources of dishonor. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had many statements andahadith that showed gratitude to Hassaan and his poetry:

Oh Allah, give him (Hassan ) the support of the holy spirit (Angel Gabriel)(Muslim)

Reply on their defamation, because it is tougher on them than arrows (Muslim) 

(Got the hint from the Prophet? Your poetry is more effective than missiles, arrows, and bombing embassies!!)

Whenever I read these ahadith, I envy Hassaan for his role in supporting Islam through his media and art work. I ask myself: where is the Hassaan ibn Thabet of our time? Who is the lucky person who will receive a copy of Hassan's supplication, through a video, an article, or a well-presented argument?

Step 3: Win the hearts

{Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you?} (An-Nur 24:22)

One of the biggest insults one can get in the early Arabian community was that related to his honor and reputation, insulting or questioning the chastity of one's wife or daughter. During the incident of Al-Ifk (slander), some Jews and hypocrites spread rumors about `A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the beloved wife of the Prophet and the daughter of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). Let me put that into perspective: some Arabs used to bury their baby daughters alive in order to "protect their honor" even before their daughters get to think about doing anything bad. After 30 days of spreading the rumors, the Qur'an was revealed to show the innocence of `A'ishah and warn those who participated in it. But among these verses of Surat An-Nur, a very special (and a very difficult) command was given to Abu Bakr:

{And let not those among you who are blessed with graces and wealth swear not to give any sort of help to their relatives, the poor, and those who left their homes for Allah's Cause. Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.} (An-Nur 24:22) 

What happened is that one of the companions who was carried away in these rumors was Mustah ibn Athathah, who was a close family member to Abu Bakr and used to get financial support from him. After the incident, Abu Bakr made an oath that he will never pay Mustah a penny! But the great Qur'an and the magnificent teachings of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) go beyond reactions and revenges; it aims at winning the hearts, at spreading love and forgiveness especially with those who wronged us! Allah ordered Abu Bakr to break his oath, and forgive Mustah, if he wants the forgiveness of Allah.

Contrary to what the movie and those behind it were trying to promote: Islam IS the religion of forgiveness, love, and mercy, so please don't help them by showing a different image of this GREAT deen!

Step 4: Don't support their marketing campaign, for FREE!

The ease of communication through social media outlets (facebook, twitter, etc…) in addition to other video websites (such as youtube) places a huge responsibility on its users, Muslims and non-Muslims. Any post or tweet can reach millions; any movie – regardless of the quality and the value of it – can cause irreversible damages. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is enough lying for a man to speak of everything that he hears." (Muslim) 

In this regard, PLEASE don't share anything that comes in hand, don't post or forward it! While I don't have statistics in hand, I can confirm that the Muslims are being the best advertisers and promoters for such movies (and for free), simply by either sharing the movie or by reacting offensively to it. Allah describes the slaves of the Most Merciful (`Ibadu Ar-Rahman):

{and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.}(Al-Furqan 25:63)

Step 5: Patience + Taqwa

One of my friends on facebook commented: "I don't understand why people make such films; why do they feel that they need to attack all that is sacred to others! Why do they enjoy spreading fitnah? What evil motivates such people?"

While I strongly agree with my friend, we have to realize that this sick mentality existed and will always exist. Allah told us in Surat Aal-`Imran:

{You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and have Taqwa (consciousness about Allah) then that is indeed a matter requiring strong resolve.} (Aal-`Imran 3:186) 

While patience is more of a passive act that requires NOT doing a certain behavior,Taqwa is a proactive term; Taqwa is to react (or even act) while being conscious about Allah; Taqwa is to reply, defend, post, tweet, and even demonstrate, but while being watchful for what you do and being considerate for the consequences of your actions.

Step 6: Don't Do NOTHING

Don't do NOTHING!

While we condemn all the acts of violence that are made under the name of Islam and under the excuse of defending the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I consider that our biggest problem is the silent majority of Muslims who simply do nothing in response to these insults. To those I say: Don't do NOTHING! Don't be the passive apologetic Muslim who watches the news, frowns at the mistakes of ignorant Muslims and Non-Muslim haters, and then goes back to their sleepy life without any contribution to the world around them. In the words of Albert Einstein:

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

The problem is not because we have extremists on both sides (among Muslims, and among non-Muslims); the disaster is that the silent majority on both sides is being passive, it is OUR responsibility to step up, open branches for dialogue and healthy debates, post smart comments online that promote the real image of Islam (Please, no foul language!). You can also start action by SHARING this article and other related pieces with your family and friends, and spread the awareness.  It is about time that we show the world our great deen and at the same time set the clear limit between freedom of speech from one end, and respect for the faith of 1.6 billion human beings on this earth from the other end.
